In 2023, I travelled with five Canadian adventurers to Nepal to visit a remote Sherpa community that lies in the shadow of the sacred mountain Tseringma, "the Mother of Long Happy Life".
The story of our journey, however, began more than a half-century earlier—with three Norwegians and their 1971 'anti-expedition' to the same valley. They developed the concept of eco-philosophy, a joyful approach to mountaineering, travel, and life in general. This idea not only remains remarkably relevant today but also offers a vision for the way forward as we face an increasingly uncertain future.
Ways to Go is a book that reconsiders travel and our approach to Nature and Culture.
"This joyful, thought-provoking book is an ode to travel as a slow and sacred practice..." - Kate Harris, author of 'Lands of Lost Borders'.
